MORE ABOUT THERAPY

During our meeting (around 90-120 minutes), we will identify the causes of unwanted canine behaviour and find effective methods to change it.

Usually, you can train your dog to stop doing something that bothers you. Unfortunately, this way, you resolve your trouble and mask your four-pawed friend’s problem. Let me explain what I mean by that.

You may see that your dog destroys the house, barks excessively, guards some resources, sometimes behaves aggressively, etc.

The truth is that this behaviour is a consequence of the problem/stress that your four-pawed friend is facing. Your dog can’t solve his trouble on his own, so he tries to cope with stress the way he can:

  • Chewing on the shoes of a beloved human while feeling lonely (the smell of a dear person left in shoes brings a little comfort. Additionally, chewing relieves tension);
  • Barking or attacking the dogs he is afraid of, your friend tries to chase them away.

During our first meeting, we will determine the source of your friend’s stress and find the best methods to help him. By solving his problem, we will make unwanted behaviour disappear. (If the dog feels relaxed while home alone, instead of looking desperately for anything that may give him some relief, he will go to sleep; if the dog feels comfortable in the other dogs’ company, instead of chasing them away, he will choose to approach them to say hello or play together.)

It is strongly recommended that we meet one more time (usually 7-10 days later) to monitor progress and sometimes modify or add new elements your dog was not ready for before to improve the process.

To succeed, you will need patience and consistency.
